Frequently Asked Questions

No, this tool generates forms based on the information you provide. It does not provide legal advice. The forms are official Ontario court forms, but you are responsible for ensuring the information is accurate. For complex situations, consider consulting a lawyer or visiting a Family Law Information Centre.

Currently, we support Form 8 (Application - General), which is the main form for starting a divorce application. We are adding support for Form 35.1 (Affidavit for Parenting), Form 35.1A (Affidavit for Child Protection), and Form 13.1 (Financial Statement) soon.

Yes! Your forms are downloaded as .docx files (Microsoft Word format), which you can open and edit in Word, Google Docs, or any compatible word processor. This allows you to make final adjustments before printing and filing.

If your divorce involves contested custody, significant assets, domestic violence concerns, or other complex factors, we recommend consulting with a family lawyer. This tool is best suited for uncontested divorces where both parties agree on major terms. Ontario offers Family Law Information Centres that provide free information.

After downloading your completed forms, print them, sign where required, and file them at your local Ontario family court. You can find your nearest family court on the Ontario Courts website. There will be a filing fee payable to the court (typically around $200 for a divorce application).
